Official CAD renders of OnePlus 9 and 9 pro surfaces!




CAD renders of the OnePlus 9 and the 9 pro revealed. The regular 9 is shown to have a 120hz flat display while the pro variant has the same 120hz on a curved display. Both the phones to use QUALCOMM's upcoming flagship 5nm chip the SD875 and OnePlus is showing no signs of slowing down. The pro variant is suspected to have LPDDR5 ram while the regular one will use LPDDR4X. The 9 pro is rumored to come with a 5000mah battery while the battery specs for the 9 is not yet revealed. The cameras are were things get interesting or rather confusing.


 The regular 9 has an improved main camera with a larger sensor and the ultrawide camera also gets some improvements, but is lacking a telephoto lens. The third much smaller lens is suspected to be a Tof sensor or a macro/monochrome lens which faced some hate due to the unusable results in previous OnePlus phones. Things get more confusing as we look at the 9pro. 




It has a bigger and improved main sensor than last year and the ultrawide also get serious improvements in sensor size, the telephoto lens is missing. The two smaller lenses are suspected to be something like a gimmicky macro/monochrome/depth cameras. As the regular 9 gets one gimmicky camera, the extra price for the 9pro gives us two of such low quality sensors? The 9 pro which is the company's top flagship of 2021 doesn't feature a zoom lens (may change after further updates/leaks) while the competition like Samsung is using 10X optical zoom for their flagship next year, and even Apple has bumped up their zoom form 2X to 2.5X this year. OnePlus has upset many fans with the camera configurations of the 9pro. OnePlus devices is the fastest and snappy smartphones right now, thanks to their high end specs and Oxygen OS.


The company solved many of the problems they had with the 8 pro this year which has the best *rear* camera system they have ever put in a smartphone and was a major competitions to other flagships this year, but the front facing shooter was a mediocre camera and it also received some hates this year. Looking at the initial renders, OnePlus is likely to disappoint their fans this year as well in the camera department. As always these are very early leaks and may change over time and hope they don't disappoint fans over their inferior camera systems this year as well.

Google and Qualcomm collaborate to bring 4 years of software update in android phones.

Qualcomm and Google announced their collaboration to simplify and bring 4 years of Android updates to smartphones powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Under Project Treble devices running on Snapdragon chipsets (from SD888 onwards) will receive security updates and new android versions for the next four years.  Project Treble will enable OEMs to upgrade their devices to the latest Android versions without worrying about Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset specific software. This is a huge leap in terms of android updates which is not always guaranteed in the Android world. OnePlus provides android updates to their devices for 3 years and recently Samsung also started providing 3 years of updates for their flagship devices. This will be divert some Apple customers into Android space because from the coming year Android smartphones with Snapdragon chipsets will be getting long term software support just like iPhones and increase the longevity of Android smartphones from 1-2 years to 4+ wit

Samsung Galaxy S21 ultra: Exynos 2100 vs Snapdragon 888

The Exynos not only lacked performance in CPU and GPU department, but also was not power efficient and had thermal issues compared to the Snapdragon 865. Even the Snapdragon model clicked better pictures due to its better Image Signal Processor (ISP).
