Exynos is back!
Samsung is back with the new flagship Exynos 2100 SoC for high-end Samsung devices. Last year's Exynos 990 was a disaster considering it's performance was no where near it's rival, the Snapdragon 865. Samsung received a lot of hate for using two SoCs on their flagship devices based on different regions around the globe, and for both SoCs not having similar performance, considering you have to pay the same price for the product.
The Exynos 2100 is a 5nm chipset which has a 30% CPU and 40% GPU upgrade over last year's Exynos 990. The chipset has Samsung's new AMIGO(Advanced Multi IP Governor) feature for less power consumption even during heavy GPU workloads like gaming and video recording/editing. Samsung is working with AMD to bring unmatched level of CPU and GPU performance in next year's Exynos SoCs. The chipset has an integrated 5G modem which has both mmWave and sub-6 wave support.
The ISP is also a whole lot better as it can record upto 4K @120fps and supports 8K @60 fps playback, first time ever on a smartphone and brings AI and computational photography to a whole another level. Exynos 2100s benchmark results were leaked on twitter a couple of times and the results were very promising. The single-core and multi-core performance of the 2100 is on par with the Snapdragon 888 and sometimes marginally beating the 888 in certain leaks.
Samsung is launching their new S21 series of flagships on 14th Jan and more details about the Exynos 2100 will be presented during the Samsung Unpacked event.
