OnePlus 9 series and Asus ROG 5 release date announced.

Asus and OnePlus are back with new phones in their lineup. Both OEMs teased the arrival of their new phones on social media. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau in a recent tweet said to stay tuned for March 8 and shared a picture saying "Something New is on the horizon". 


The picture may be teasing of a periscope lens on the 9 series which is capable of taking moonshots like the Galaxy S21 ultra. OnePlus 9 series leaks and expected specs here.

As for Asus, they skipped the number 4 and is launching the ROG phone 5 on March 10th.  They have partnered with Indian Youtuber CarryMinati as well as other gamers to promote the launch of the new gamming phone. 


The new ROG phone 5 will have the Snapdragon 888 with all the high-end specs on android. Asus is also bringing back the headphone jack this year which they skipped on the ROG phone 3.

Google and Qualcomm collaborate to bring 4 years of software update in android phones.

Qualcomm and Google announced their collaboration to simplify and bring 4 years of Android updates to smartphones powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Under Project Treble devices running on Snapdragon chipsets (from SD888 onwards) will receive security updates and new android versions for the next four years.  Project Treble will enable OEMs to upgrade their devices to the latest Android versions without worrying about Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset specific software. This is a huge leap in terms of android updates which is not always guaranteed in the Android world. OnePlus provides android updates to their devices for 3 years and recently Samsung also started providing 3 years of updates for their flagship devices. Samsung Galaxy S21 ultra: Exynos 2100 vs Snapdragon 888

The Exynos not only lacked performance in CPU and GPU department, but also was not power efficient and had thermal issues compared to the Snapdragon 865.
